Descriptive Writing Lesson Accommodations:
General Accommodations:
Extended time offered on "I was a witness" assignment deadline. Up to 48 hours (or more if plan details) extension upon request or automatically depending on students IEP or 504
Students who wish to write in their heritage languages for "I was a witness" assignment can AND they must also produce a version of their “I was a witness” activity that practices using English.
The MLL students who have indicated to the teacher that translated material is helpful to them will receive a copy of the presentation translated into their heritage language. 504 and IEP students who need a copy of the original presentation will also receive a printed out version to take notes on and to keep for later reference.
Differentiation:
There will be a bank of songs students can choose from if it is not accessible for them to/ do not want to think of a song on their own for the bellringer activity
The song and words/phrases they choose can be in any language. The only rule is that the word/phrase chosen must be school-appropriate.
If a chosen word or phrase is in a language that is not the target language of the class (English) the teacher can ask if anyone (branching out to more than just the writer of the note) wants to describe what that word means in English or the teacher can utilize a translation dictionary)
